Head of Research Area Boosting Decision Making

Ich erforsche, wie man menschliches Urteilsvermögen und Entscheidungsfindung durch das Verständnis von menschlichem und maschinellem Verhalten sowie wie Menschen selbst Maschinen verstehen, stärken kann (scienceofboosting.org). Ich kombiniere Ideen und Methoden aus der Kognitionswissenschaft, kollektiver Intelligenz ("Weisheit der Vielen"), Heuristiken und Algorithmen. Ich arbeite auch an Anwendungen in digitalen Umgebungen und medizinischer Entscheidungsfindung. Darüber hinaus co-leite ich eine Initiative zur Neukonfiguration der Verhaltenswissenschaft für das Krisenwissensmanagement in Reaktion auf COVID-19 und andere, zukünftige disruptive Ereignisse (scibeh.org).

Ich bin der Leiter des Forschungsbereichs "Stärkung von Entscheidungskompetenzen (Boosting)" (scienceofboosting.org) und Senior Researcher am Center for Adaptive Rationality am Max-Planck-Institut für Bildungsforschung in Berlin. Im Jahr 2010 erhielt ich den Hillel Einhorn New Investigator Award der Society for Judgment and Decision Making. Meine Forschung wurde in der populärwissenschaftlichen Presse (z.B. Scientific American) besprochen und erscheint in wissenschaftlichen und populärwissenschaftlichen Büchern (inkl. Tetlock und Garner’s „Superforecasting“). Ich studierte Psychologie, Management und Informatik und erhielt meinen Doktortitel in Psychologie im Jahr 2009 von der Universität Basel.
