This seminar offers new PhD candidates an introduction to the theoretical basics of the history of emotions as well as to E.P. Thompson’s notion of a Moral Economy and the ways in which this notion has been taken up and deployed by other scholars. Its aim is to provide PhD candidates with a common background knowledge that can serve as a basis for future work and debate. The seminar is divided up into thematic segments comprising multiple sessions, and each segment is led by a different member of the IMPRS Moral Economies faculty. For more information, see the course syllabus.
