Nora Newcombe, Temple University: Episodic memory across age and species

Behavioural studies have delineated the developmental trajectory of episodic memory and its constituent processes. Neural data are growing but still limited. However, lesion and neurophysiological studies have identified key neural substrates and circuit mechanisms for episodic memory development in other mammalian species. How do we bridge these research traditions? I will aim to highlight theoretical and methodological issues that currently limit cross-fertilization, and consider how to facilitate cross-species research endeavours.
