Stephan Lewandowsky was granted the Humboldt Research Award

Winners of the award are invited to spend up to one year at a research institution in Germany to collaborate with specialist colleagues on a research project.

Stephan Lewandowsky, Professor of Cognitive Psychology at the University of Bristol, UK, was granted the Humboldt Research Award by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in recognition of his academic achievements to date.

Professor Stephan Lewandowsky is a renowned cognitive scientist and expert in computational modeling. He is recognized internationally for his work on digital-age cognitive phenomena like misinformation—namely, how it spreads and why it is often resistant to correction—and climate change denial. During his stay in Germany, Stephan Lewandowsky will collaborate with Ralph Hertwig, Director of the Center for Adaptive Rationality, on a behavioral-science project that seeks to help transform digital environments from manipulative structures that control user attention to educational spaces that promote informed and civil online deliberation.
