Philipp Lorenz-Spreen is APS Rising Star 2024

Philipp Lorenz-Spreen, Research Scientist at the Center for Adaptive Rationality, is a new APS Rising Star of the Association for Psychological Science (APS). With this award, the association recognizes young scientists whose innovative contributions advance psychological science and show great potential for further impactful findings. 

Philipp Lorenz-Spreen's research focuses on networked online discourse and its impact on democracies worldwide. He aims to better understand the interplay between human behavior and the connectivity and functioning of online platforms, especially regarding public discourse. He uses a multi-method approach that includes controlled experiments, field studies and big data analysis. His research also questions the status quo of existing online platforms and explores how this technology can be used for an improved information ecosystem and participatory democracy online. 

The Association for Psychological Science (APS) is a leading international organization dedicated to the advancement of scientific psychology across disciplinary and geographic boundaries.
