Helen Ahner, researcher at the Center for the History of Emotions, has been awarded the Manfred Lautenschläger Prize for her dissertation.

The cultural scientist writes in her dissertation Planetarien. Wunder der Technik - Techniken des Wunderns about planetariums and their cultural-historical significance. Based on over 900 sources, Helen Ahner traces the role of planetariums for society in the 1920s. She brings cultural theory into dialog with the experiences of the first planetarium guests and shows how planetariums not only spread knowledge, but also inspired wonder.

With the Manfred Lautenschläger Prize, the Heidelberg Academy of Sciences and Humanities honors the publications of young researchers from the cultural sciences and humanities with a sum of 10,000 euros.
