Originally founded in 1923 as The Cambridge Historical Journal, the journal publishes historical articles four times a year.

Ute Frevert has been appointed to the international advisory board of the Historical Journal, a peer-reviewed academic journal published by Cambridge University Press under the editorial leadership of the Cambridge University’s Faculty of History. The journal, which began as The Cambridge Historical Journal in 1923, is today published quarterly and contains historical scholarship on issues from all over the globe, from 1500 to the present.
