Cooperation Partners

The Max Planck Research Group iSearch collaborates with several museums and educational institutions in Berlin. These collaborations are an extremely valuable aspect of our research, and allow us to make our work transparent and accessible to the public. Our studies consist of games tailored to a wide range of ages: our youngest participants are about three years old, and our oldest are about twelve. We take our materials (e.g., tablets, playing cards or specially designed materials like “magic machines”) to each museum and play with children who are visiting with their parents and are interested in taking part. We always ask parents' and children's consent before the children take part in our studies. All of our data is fully anonymized and stored separately from the consent forms signed by the parents, in accordance with data protection laws. Our games are designed to help us understand how children learn about the world around them. More specifically, we are interested in how children's information search and active learning strategies develop.

At the moment, we are working with the following institutions:

Museum für Naturkunde Berlin

Alice – Museum für Kinder im FEZ-Berlin

Science Center Spectrum der Stiftung Deutsches Technikmuseum Berlin

Labyrinth Kindermuseum Berlin
