A cross-sectional online survey of the population in Germany regarding their information behaviour and knowledge during the first months of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Even after the lockdown, the majority of respondents in early June 2020 said they had kept up to date with the latest news about the ongoing pandemic and general developments in the situation – particularly older people. Overall, the population appears to be well informed. They perceive misinformation as widespread and support labelling such 'fake news'. These are the findings of a recent study by the Max Planck Institute for Human Development and the Robert Koch Institute.
