Pedro Espinosa Joins the LEVANTE Young Scholars Programme

We are excited to share that Pedro Espinosa has been selected as a Young Scholar for the LEVANTE initiative of the Jacobs Foundation. Alongside colleagues Dr. Nancy Palacios Mena and Dr. Salome Amissah-Essel, he received a grant to support their collaborative project investigating how natural variability in physical activity relates to memory and cognitive development in children aged 5 to 7.

The awarded project will contribute to the effort by collecting real-world, longitudinal data from preschool and early school-age children in Colombia and Ghana, aiming to uncover how daily fluctuations in physical activity and environmental affordances—such as access to playgrounds—relate to cognitive outcomes.

Zoe Ngo has been awarded by the 2024 Jacobs Foundation LEVANTE Program

Zoe Ngo has been selected to join the first cohort of the LEVANTE, funded by the Jacobs Foundation. LEVANTE – the Learning Variability Network Exchange – is a flagship research initiative launched by the Jacobs Foundation in partnership with Stanford University. It aims to advance our understanding of learning variability in children by supporting international, interdisciplinary research and developing the first large-scale, open-access dataset on child development in a global context.

Among 6 awarded sites in 2024, Zoe and her group will collaborate alongside the four existing pilot sites, forming a ten-site network of leading education researchers and institutions dedicated to embedding evidence-based insights into policy and practice.
