This longitudinal study on aging, memory, and dementia was established in Umeå, northern Sweden, in 1988. What makes this project especially interesting to the OHG is that it (a) contains two associative memory tests, one that makes it possible to assess associative memory independently of item memory, and one performed during fMRI assessment and (b) has a large sample size and an age range of participants including younger as well as older adults, (c) has investigated associative memory longitudinally across a time span of 25 years.
