The BASE-II study is a collaborative project between five different research units in Germany and investigates the physical, cognitive, and social conditions that lead to successful aging. 2,200 Berlin residents have been investigated (i.e., 1600 older adults aged 60–80 and 600 younger adults aged 20–35). This study is of particular interest to the OHG due to (a) its large sample size and age range of participants as well as (b) the assessment of several independent item and associative memory tests.
