Information Resources

The information resources offered by the Research Data & Information department at MPIB can be searched in various ways.

MPIB.Discovery search engine
The MPIB.Discovery search engine enables users to search the MPIB library’s physical collection, electronic resources relevant to MPIB research (such as e-books, e-journals, open access publications, journal articles), and selected MPG publications — all at once.

Electronic Journals
We offer access to a wide range of electronic journal titles via the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). In addition, the table of contents of electronic journals available at the MPIB are accessible via the virtual journal shelf BrowZine. Institute members can also use BrowZine as an app on their smartphone or tablet to receive automatic notifications about new issues of individually selectable journals.

Databases
The Database Information System (DBIS) provides an overview of specialist online databases licensed by the MPIB, as well as specialist databases that are freely accessible on the internet.

Remote access for institute members
Institute members can access licensed content from outside the Institute network via the EZproxy service. No additional software installation is required, and the service works independently of the user’s operating system. All that is required is a standard web browser, and users log in with their individual login details for the Institute computers.
