Hippocampal Circuit and Code for Cognition Lab (HCCCL)

The former Max Planck Partner Group “Hippocampal Circuit and Code for Cognition Lab” (HCCCL) worked towards a better understanding of how the neural code underpinning memory is influenced by maturational and aging-related processes in lifespan development.
The Max Planck Partner Group was active from February 2021 until January 2026. HCCCL continues to be headed by Attila Keresztes, a research scientist at the Brain Imaging Centre of the Research Centre for Natural Sciences in Budapest, Hungary. He collaboratesd closely with various projects in the Centere for Lifespan Psychology.
Researchers of the lab aimed
- to characterize network changes within the human hippocampus, a brain area crucial for memory, and
- to identify changes in memory performance that are associated with these network changes. For this purpose, the researchers predominantly carried out longitudinal studies using behavioral methods and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Cooperation with project groups of the Center for Lifespan Psychology.
