The Power of Emotions. Germany 19 | 19

Fear, hope, love and rage: Throughout history, emotions have propelled processes of reform and democratization. But they have also been objects of political instrumentalization and manipulation. The exhibition “The Power of Emotions: Germany 19 | 19,” developed by Ute Frevert, Director of the Center for the History of Emotions, and Bettina Frevert, historical educator, presents the history of Germany over the last 100 years through the perspective of 20 emotions.

The exhibition was commissioned by the Foundation Remembrance, Responsibility and Future and the Bundesstiftung zur Aufarbeitung der SED-Diktatur. Further information can be found here.

Worldviews—Origins. Salon Sophie Charlotte 2020

What enables humans alone to create images of the world? When did they develop the cognitive abilities for this and what role do emotions play as a force to change the world? At the Salon Sophie Charlotte of the Akademie der Wissenschaften Berlin, the Max Planck Society is presenting new findings from its institutes on the question of the origin of worldviews. Further information and the program can be found here.
