Reading Emotional Poses

This project investigated how people interpret emotional poses. For example, we were interested in whether age differences in the interpretation of emotional poses depend on the age of the posing persons. Investigations of this possibility were facilitated by the development of an extensive  dataset providing a large age range of individuals showing different facial expressions: the FACES Lifespan Database of Facial Expressions.

In 2018, this database was complemented by morphing videos (dynamic FACES) on the basis of the original static FACES images as well as „scrambled FACES“ that can be used as control stimuli (see Holland et al., 2018).
