Our research extends beyond the lab into the wild. Specifically, we focus on medicine, law, business and politics, areas in which decisions can have far-reaching consequences and are hence fraught with risk. Risks are statistical information that describe the probability of a particular event. Unfortunately, most people, including experts, have difficulties understanding statistical information.
In order to improve the risk literacy skills of professionals such as doctors, judges, and journalists as well as patients, school children, and the public at large, we regularly conduct lectures and seminars on risk communication and decision making under uncertainty.
