The position is for three years and is available from January 1st, 2025, but later start dates are possible.
The Center for Adaptive Rationality takes an interdisciplinary approach to behavioral and social science. The position is funded through a grant from the German Research Foundation. It focuses on applying (open-source) large language models (LLMs) to research data from the behavioral and social sciences to understand psychological mechanisms and anticipate the generalizability of findings. Applicants should have programming skills in Python or R and an interest in meta-science perspectives on behavioral and social science. Prior experience with natural language processing and (open-source) large language models is desirable. Applicants should also hold or anticipate receiving, as shown in supporting documents, a doctorate in psychology, cognitive science, computer science, or a related field.
The Max Planck Institute for Human Development (www.mpib-berlin.mpg.de) offers an excellent infrastructure, including support staff and state-of-the-art GPU computing clusters. It provides an international and interdisciplinary research environment, with English being the working language of the Center for Adaptive Rationality.

We look forward to your application, which should include a cover letter describing your research interests, your CV, relevant certificates, and, if available, a representative preprint or publication.
