The Center for Adaptive Rationality at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development, Berlin, Germany (Director: Prof. Dr. Ralph Hertwig), invites applications for 1 Postdoctoral Position on neural mechanisms of memory and decision making (E 13 TVöD; 39 hours/week). The position is available from October 1, 2020, but later start dates are possible.

Job description:

The successful candidate will join the cognitive neuroscience section of the Center for Adaptive Rationality. Candidates should be interested in using neuroscientific methods (M/EEG, fMRI), multivariate pattern analysis (MVPA), and computational modeling, to study human memory processes in adaptive decision making. The Center for Adaptive Rationality takes an interdisciplinary approach to cognitive science and human decision making. There are no teaching obligations associated with the position.


Candidates must have, or anticipate receiving very soon as shown in supporting documents, a PhD in neuroscience, psychology, or a related field. A strong background in cognitive neuroscience, neuroimaging, multivariate analysis and statistics is required. Experience with computational modeling (of behavioural and/or neural data) is recommended.
