The Center for Humans and Machines at the Max Planck Institute for Human Development in Berlin seeks applicants for a Student Assistant (60-80 hours/month) in Science Management

The Center for Humans & Machines (CHM) conducts interdisciplinary science to understand, anticipate, and shape major disruptions from digital media and Artificial Intelligence to the way we think, learn, work, play, cooperate, and govern. Our goal is to understand how machines are shaping human society today and how they may continue to shape it in the future. The Center is comprised of an interdisciplinary, international, and diverse group of scholars and a science support team. To complement this team, we are looking for a motivated Student Assistant.

Main Tasks

  • Assist in science communication tasks including creating content for social media, maintaining the CHM website, and preparing newsletters.
  • Contribute to organizing events such as international conferences, bi-weekly seminars, and internal meetings. 
  • Support the Research Coordinator with research on grants, drafting and preparing presentations, and documenting meeting outcomes.

Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Master's program in science management, science communication, public management, media science, or communication. 
  • Independent and careful work.
  • High motivation, strong communication skills, and ability to work in a team.
  • Experienced with event management both in presence and online.
  • Experienced with social media.
  • Experience with Figma, as well as graphics and image editing programs, is a plus.
  • Initial experience with video or podcast production is a plus.
  • Confident command of the English language, both written and spoken. 
  • Good German speaking and writing skills are a plus.
