ASA Sociology of Body and Embodiment 2023 Best Book Award for Esra Sarıoğlu 

Research is a significant contribution to the sociology of body and embodiment.

Esra Sarıoğlu, researcher at the Center for History of Emotions, was rewarded with the Best Book Award for her book The Body Unburdened: Violence, Emotions, and the New Woman in Turkey” by the American Sociological Association Section on Body and Embodiment.  

The 2023 Best Book Award recognizes the best book published in 2021 and 2022 that makes a significant contribution to the sociology of body and embodiment.  

The American Sociological Association, founded in 1905, is the national professional membership association for sociologists and others who are interested in sociology.
